INFOGRAMES AND SIX-FLAGS TEAM UP TO PUT MORE
LOOPS IN ROLLERCOASTER TYCOON 2
May 28, 2002
Using Realworld Themepark Designs, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2
Players Can Now Design Parks And Rides Like The Pros.
BEVERLY, Mass., May 28 -- Infogrames, Inc. (Nasdaq: IFGM) and
Six Flags theme parks today announced an exclusive interactive
entertainment licensing agreement that will make five Six Flags
theme parks and 25 of the most exciting Six Flags roller
coasters available to players of Infogrames' upcoming
RollerCoaster Tycoon(TM) 2 CD-ROM game for personal computers.
Players will be able to recreate Six Flags theme parks from
around the world and compare their rides and parks to those
created by Six Flags professionals.
"Having Six Flags parks and rides in RollerCoaster Tycoon 2
is a big step forward for the RollerCoaster Tycoon
franchise," said Ann Marie Bland, director of brand
marketing at Infogrames' Beverly Studio. "While fans have
eagerly embraced and enjoyed the RollerCoaster Tycoon game, the
parks they built were always a fantasy. That was great for most
people, but others wanted to test their mettle in the real world
with actual parks. RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 will satisfy both
groups: players can build a fantasy park from the ground up or
can use an actual Six Flags park and try their hand at running
it."
"Six Flags is thrilled to be associated with a game that so
directly appeals to our fans," Hank Salemi, senior vice
president of marketing for Six Flags, Inc., said.
"RollerCoaster Tycoon has always been a fun way to learn
the theme park business at home. With RollerCoaster Tycoon 2
players can ramp up the thrills by testing their skills against
the world's largest regional theme park company."
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 will provide more creativity, more
freedom and more control than previous RollerCoaster Tycoon
products. RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 includes many new features over
its predecessor, including all new rides and themes, new ride
and park design modes and an enhanced ride-creation system that
enables players to build their ultimate coaster with
unprecedented ease.
In addition to the Six Flags elements contained in RollerCoaster
Tycoon 2, Infogrames will also receive a package of marketing
benefits that will see RollerCoaster Tycoon become a fixture in
Six Flags parks on in-park TV monitors, gift shops and other
locations.
Created by master game designer Chris Sawyer and released in the
spring of 1999, RollerCoaster Tycoon has gone on to sell over 4
million units of the core game and its two expansion packs,
Corkscrew Follies(TM) and Loopy Landscapes(TM), in the three
years since its release. RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is expected to
reach software retailer shelves in the fall of 2002.
