The Rise and Fall of the Phoenix -

This compo was a little harder than the rest; the scoring relied heavily on scenery, something which a lot of people struggle with. But even with scenery deficiencies we still had a good load of excellent pieces.

Flaming Feather (Winner) :-

"The Phoenix" by waltdisneyworld_fan - Download here

At first this piece didn't really hit a string with me, until I noticed the red volcano type water formation; a sort of symbolic piece of scenery that won you this competition. The really kick in the formation is that the colour also reaches into the lower water as if spreading the Phoenix's pain and suffering to all those that are in the vicinity.

Singed Feather (Runner Up) :-

"Phoenix Flight" by Dr. Shark - Download here

This piece was very creative and very clever. I was debating whether to place this in first or not. But one thing that really turned me away was the ending; somehow I didn't see its purpose. Overall an almost excellent piece, keep up the good work but with some more meaning to snag first.

Conclusion :-

Once again thanks to all the entrants and good luck to all in the next compo. You guys really make my day when I get these entries in my e-mail.
